Field Trips on the West Coast of North America

This gallery is from various field trips done in 2018 on the West Coast of North America, from British Columbia to California. In California, we visited the Sonoma Valley Regional Park and its vicinity, Natural Bridges State Beach and Moss Landing State Beach. We saw and photographed a number of birds in Natural Bridges State Beach thank to a volunteer who gave us a private tour of the park. Shore birds were abundant at Moss Landing State Beach, providing an opportunity to see and photograph long-billed curlew, whimbrel, willet and more at close range. We also had an opportunity to visit the Santa Clara Salt Ponds, a restoration project in San Francisco Bay. In British Columbia, we visited the Reifel Bird Sanctuary, Point Roberts, Blackie Spit, and many other birdwatching sites. The best birdwatching day was for sure when we joined a friend who, despite a busy schedule, took time to drive us to her best birdwatching and photography spots.
